Project Description:

The historic building was completely restored on its exterior as well as in its interior in order to make it more adequate to current book selling activities. The first section of the building preserves various concrete walls. Additionally, a new covered courtyard with an elevator in order to ascend to superior levels and terrace were made.

The main intervention of the project is the transformation of the roof into a restaurant with views to Historic Center. The 1960’s building was recovered with red aluminum in order to get visual uniformity and relate it with volcanic surface of historic buildings around.

The fourth floor of this building is part of the new restaurant, called El Mayor, and the fifth hosts the Porrúa’s principal offices.
